Leigh and Nick met their sophomore year at Virginia Tech University. They were long time friends before realizing, during their senior year, how much they really liked eachother! From that moment on they started dating, and never stopped. Fast forward four years and Leigh and Nick were visiting her parent’s lakehouse, like any other trip away, but much to Leigh’s surprise, this WASN’T like any other trip! There was this whole debacle with a dead fish floating towards the dock, that kept Leigh occupied while Nick was secretly planning to pop the question! When Leigh went down to the dock to inspect what was going on, it turns out Nick was just waiting for her to arrive and he got down on one knee with their friends and family watching to tell her JUST how much he loved her! How freaking sweet is that?! (Not sure what happened with the dead fish, but I don’t think it mattered at that point!)
Now, having been together over 5 years, comes Leigh and Nicks special day! These two couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location, on a more perfect day, with a more perfect crowed of people. Leigh is down right the most laid-back bride I have ever encountered, just soaking in the day as it came. When I arrived she was casually getting her hair and make-up done, chatting and laughing with her best girls, while Nick and his guys hung out by the pool until it was time to get ready. When Leigh stepped into her sleek and classic wedding gown, it fit her like a glove! Her mom and her shared a quite moment while she got ready, and then all of her girls came in to help her finish. I couldn’t get over how perfect all of her color combinations meshed together, and how summery it truly felt!
During the ceremony, these two shared their vows in front of all of their closest family and friends. Leigh and Nick wanted something special during their recessional and I was ECSTATIC when they agreed to fire off confetti cannons! If you know me, I absolutely LOVE confetti and pretty much died right then and there when those cannons went off perfectly. She even got a few extras for us to play with during golden hour! I mean HOW PERFECT can you be?!
Once the cocktail hour was complete, these two did a quick wardrobe change and got ready for the cutest and most unique entrance I have ever seen! Leigh and Nick didn’t want the traditional introductions, so they opted to throw on a vintage sweater-vest and fringe jacket and dance in to their reception to Twist and Shout, just like one of their favorite movies! Any guesses as to the movie they played tribute to??
FERRIS BUELLERS DAY OFF!
Which also happens to be one of my favorite childhood movies! How fun is that?! I always tell my couples to make sure they add a bit of themselves everywhere they can during their wedding, and these two definitely did not disappoint!
After that, they share the most fun first dance, and special parent dances, and then continued to dance WELL into the night!
I had so much fun being a part of this wedding, and getting to watch all of their guests enjoy themselves as well. I can’t thank Leigh and Nick enough for letting me share such a momentous day with them! Congratulations you two, and cheers to your next adventure!
