This weddings is a little more special than most, and let me tell you why. You see, Cori and I have known each other for about 5 years now, if you can believe it! Before all of this, I decided to venture into Veterinary Technology, and that’s where I met Cori! We battled countless hours of studying, continuing education, surgery rotations, exams, and volunteer work together and made it through two and half grueling years by the skin of our teeth. Us, and a group of our dedicated friends stuck together and made those years actually manageable! Now, even though I left that field of work – Cori continued her journey as a Vet Tech and works for an equine medical hospital.
Not only did I get to see a group of my long lost friends from Vet Tech school, one of my past brides happened to be a bridesmaid too! Cayla was actually one of my very first brides, who got married at a beautiful little bed and breakfast 2 years ago. She is now traveling North America with her military husband, which made it THAT much cooler to see her again!
Cori and Jisu’s wedding was so simple, yet so beautiful. They said their “I Do’s” at a gorgeous Catholic Church in downtown Leesburg, and then headed up to Highholdborne for their reception. Highholdborne is an old manor home that sits high on a hill side in the depths of Bluemont. The home is filled with ornate vintage furniture, huge gold mirrors, and over looks the rolling hills of Loudoun County – so you know I was definitely in heaven there!
Cori looked like she was straight out of a Disney movie with her ballgown wedding dress, embellished with lace and beading, and topped with gorgeous drop sleeves. Her girls surrounded her in a sea of sage green, while the guys looked handsome in classic grey suits. Jisu stood out from the crowd in a dashing 3 piece suit adorned with a beautiful white rose and succulent boutonniere. Along side the roses, Cori’s bouquet also included massive succulents and tons of greenery. The guests sat family style, with tables decorated with vases of the same white roses and the perfect little DIY succulent terrariums!
Cori and Jisu danced the night away, and enjoyed the company of their guests under a tent to the side of the manor, all while taking in the gorgeous starry Bluemont skies. I can’t thank these two enough for letting me share this day with them! Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Helmer!
